Unesco is likely to postpone consideration of
Cambodia's plan to manage the immediate surroundings of the Preah Vihear
world heritage site, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Friday.
Mr Abhisit was speaking after receiving a report from Suwit
Khunkitti, the caretaker national resources and environment minister who
led a Thai team to attend an unofficial meeting on Preah Vihear temple
with Cambodia at Unesco headquarters in Paris, France.
Mr Suwit had told him Unesco was likely to postpone consideration of the management plan, as requested by the Thai government.
The prime minister re-affirmed that a meeting of the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee would certainly be held in Cambodia, as stated earlier by Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, the caretaker defence minister.

Cambodia seemed intent on making the world believe that the bilateral
mechanisms between Thailand and Cambodia were not functional, Mr
Abhisit said.
That was not correct. The two countries could still make agreements through bilateral mechanisms, Mr Abhisit said.
