Goals from Pedro, Lionel Messi and David Villa powered the winners.
Wayne Rooney managed to equalise the score at 1-1 but it was not a
serious challenge for the Catalan giants.
Pedro opened the scoring in the 27th minute, Rooney netted a quite brilliant strike after dazzling interplay with Ryan Giggs.
But after the halftime interlude, once again Messi sparkled and put
Barca ahead in the 54th minute. Villa's incredible third made the result
certain.
Barca dominated the match, the scoring and the statistics. They had
68 per cent posession, 11 shots to just 1 by Manchester United, and six
corners to none at all for the English team. Man United only had the
best of the fouls, by 16-5.
